Honda has a fairly massive recall going
for various iterations of its Honda Shadow cruiser model. In total,
22,142 motorcycles are affected by the Honda Shadow recall, ranging from
2010 to 2016 model years.
At issue is an engine vibration that
may cause the bank angle sensor wire to rub against the wire harness
joint connector. This can result in a loss of the sensor signal, which
in-turn can cause the engine to stall and pose a safety hazard.
The affected bikes are as follows:
- 2012-2014 VT750CA, VT750C2, and VT750C2F
- 2011-2016 VT750C
- 2013-2016 VT750CS
- 2010-2016 VT750C2B
- 2013-2014 VT750C2S
To
remedy the situation, Honda will notify affected owners, and Honda
dealers will relocate the joint connector and replace the bank angle
sensor free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin February
19, 2016. Concerned Shadow owners may contact Honda customer service at
1-800-999-1009, and reference recall number JW7. As always, the NHTSA is
also available at 1-888-327-4236 and safercar.gov.
